Trello popularized the visual kanban board for project and task management. Its simplicity made it the world's most widely adopted personal and team productivity tool — before Notion and Linear changed category expectations.

Trello is a task and project management tool based on the kanban board, owned by Atlassian. The structure is simple: you create a board, add lists (columns representing workflow stages, like "To Do", "In Progress", "Done") and within lists you create cards (the tasks). Cards are draggable from one list to another to move a task from one phase to the next. Each card can contain a detailed description, checklists, attachments, due dates, colored labels, comments and team member assignments. Power-Ups (additional integrations and features) extend the possibilities: timeline (Gantt), calendar view, automations with Butler, connection to Jira, Slack and many other tools. Butler is Trello's automation system that lets you create automatic rules — for example, automatically moving a card to "Done" when all checklists are checked — without writing code. The free plan is very functional with unlimited boards for workspaces of up to 10 active boards.

Premium at $10 per user adds Gantt, calendar, map, dashboard views and admin features. Enterprise is custom-priced.
