Loom made popular a simple but powerful idea: instead of writing a long email or calling a meeting, you record a 2-minute video, send the link and the message is delivered. Since 2023 it's part of Atlassian, having become part of the Jira-Confluence ecosystem.

Loom is an asynchronous video messaging platform. With one click you record your screen, webcam or both together, and within seconds of finishing the recording you already have the link to share — you don't need to upload anything manually. The recipient watches the video when they want, can leave timestamped comments, emoji reactions, and in turn reply with their own video. This format has proven highly effective for design feedback, product demos, client onboarding, technical explanations, async team updates and sales call follow-ups. Loom has been owned by Atlassian since 2023 and integrates natively with Jira, Confluence and the rest of the ecosystem. AI features include automatic transcription, summaries, filler word removal ("um", long pauses), automatic titles and clip creation from a long video. The free plan's limit — 25 total videos with a maximum 5-minute length — pushes almost all teams to quickly move to the Business plan.
