Sublime Text is the developer text editor that defined the aesthetics and features of modern editors — Multi-Selection, Command Palette, lightning-fast search — before VS Code even existed. Many return to it for its speed and lightness.

Sublime Text is a text and code editor for Windows, macOS and Linux, known for its speed, lightness and excellent editing features. The features that made it famous: Multi-Selection, allowing simultaneous editing of many occurrences of the same text; the Command Palette for executing any action without leaving the keyboard; goto anything for opening any file or jumping to any line or symbol in milliseconds; syntax highlighting for dozens of languages; and the snippet and macro system. Distraction Free mode occupies the full screen eliminating every interface element. The Package Control system (installed separately) gives access to thousands of community plugins to extend features. Sublime Text 4, the latest major version, added native GPU support for rendering, hover definitions, context-aware autocomplete and improved language extension (LSP) support. It's a significantly lighter editor than VS Code, with near-instantaneous opening times even on very large files.

Sublime Text is downloadable and usable for free with no time limit, but periodically shows a pop-up prompting purchase. The license is purchased once at $99 per user and includes all updates to the current version and subsequent major releases while the license is active. There are no subscriptions.
